Intentional Technology & Screen Framework (ITSF) Recalibration Session
July 15
South Portland High School
8:30 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.
This highly collaborative working session is designed specifically for leaders in schools or districts with 1:1 programs. Participants will examine current practices, reflect on the purpose behind technology use, evaluate platforms and systems, develop communication strategies for families, and create a practical action plan for the upcoming school year.
The session will be facilitated by Andrew Marcinek, a nationally recognized educational technology leader, author, speaker, and former US DOE Chief Open Education Advisor. Andrew has worked with school systems across the country on instructional technology, digital wellness, AI, and sustainable 1:1 learning initiatives. Participants can learn more about his work through his Substack, Think Forward: Think Forward by Andrew Marcinek.
Attendees will leave with:
A clear purpose statement for technology use
A technology and platform audit process
A family communication brief
A professional learning target
A personalized fall implementation plan
Schools may bring up to three participants*. We recommend a cross-functional team that may include:
Principal or Assistant Principal
Technology Director or Technology Staff Member
Instructional Technology Integrator or Coach
Curriculum Coordinator or District Leader with instructional responsibilities
To promote meaningful discussion and collaboration, attendance is limited to 60 participants statewide.
The event is free for METDA member districts. Non-member districts may attend for $300, which includes a METDA membership. Please click here to see if your district is a member.
Coffee and donuts will be available during registration, and lunch will be provided.
We hope you will join us for a practical day of reflection, planning, and collaboration with fellow Maine school leaders as we consider what intentional technology use should look like in the next phase of 1:1 learning.
*Please reach out to Andrew Wallace atw@spsdme.org for exceptions to the participant limit.
