Position of METDA on Net Neutrality

The Maine Educational Technology Directors Association disagrees with today’s repeal of Net Neutrality Rules.

We believe that all internet content should be treated equally by Internet Service Providers.

What to filter, limit or prioritize is best left to local school districts. Most rural Maine schools, and many urban districts do not have a choice of Internet Service Providers.

We join the Maine Attorney General, Maine’s Senate Delegation, the American Association of School Librarians (AASL), the State Educational Technology Directors Association (SETDA) and most state level professional education organizations in our support of Net Neutrality.

The Maine Educational Technology Directors Association

METDA is comprised of information technology leaders from all regions of Maine. Members provide and manage information technology services and facilities for school departments. These members play a strategic role in planning and shaping education technology infrastructures and policies.
